How to Upload a Mode Entitlement License Key (v1.10 and Later)

This article explains how to upload and activate a mode entitlement license key on Niton XL5 model analyzer(s) running software v1.10 or later using NitonConnect Manager v2.8 or later. Before activating the license, first verify that the analyzer has been calibrated for the requested mode, if calibration is required. Modes shown as Not Calibrated require calibration before the entitlement can be successfully activated. Once calibration is confirmed, use Upload Licenses in NitonConnect Manager

Issue

How to upload and install a generated mode entitlement license key on Niton XL5 model analyzer(s) running software v1.10 or later.

Environment

  • Thermo Scientific Niton XL5 model analyzer(s)
  • Analyzer software v1.10 or later
  • NitonConnect Manager v2.8 or later
  • Generated mode entitlement license key received by email
  • Windows 10, Windows 11, or later versions

Resolution

Important – Verify calibration before installing the license

Before attempting to activate a mode entitlement, first ensure that the analyzer has been calibrated for the mode being licensed, if that mode requires calibration. A mode requiring calibration must be calibrated for that analyzer before completing the entitlement/activation process.

Check the mode status on the analyzer under:

Settings > General Settings > About > Modes and Features

The mode status can indicate Licensed, Not Licensed, or Not Calibrated.

If the requested mode displays Not Calibrated, the analyzer must go through the appropriate service process for calibration and entitlement installation.

Once calibration has been confirmed:

  1. Connect the Niton XL5 analyzer to a Windows computer running NitonConnect Manager v2.8 or later.
  2. Download the generated license key received by email and save it to the computer.
  3. Verify that NitonConnect Manager is running.

  5. From the Windows taskbar, open the NitonConnect Manager command tray.
  6. Select Upload Licenses.
  7. Browse to the location where the license key was saved.
  8. Select the license key file and select OK.
  9. Allow the analyzer to process the license. When the Upload Complete message appears, select OK.
  10. When the Command Response window displays “Entitlements successfully installed,” select OK.
