PSB-ICSP-1161 Inuvion Pump Waste Tubing Kit

Description:

A.    Background and Usage

The piston pump is a dynamic system in which the piston continuously moves through the pump seal. Surface tension and a wet layer on the piston surface may transfer into the seal wash area. This physical effect is inevitable and varies depending on system pressure; however, the rate of liquid transfer is extremely minimal and does not impact performance of the Instrument. Over extended runtime this liquid does accumulate and potentially overflow, if the Seal Wash Inlet and Outlet are not connected.

·        Seeing fluid movement in the waste tubing or seal wash system, even when the seal wash pump is not in operation, is not an indication of a defective pump head or seal.

·        Abnormal chromatography (e.g., retention time shifts) or system pressure fluctuations may indicate that the system requires troubleshooting, which may include seal replacement or pump head maintenance.

However, if liquid within the seal wash cavity is not properly contained or routed to waste through tubing from the seal wash ports, it can accumulate and emerge as visible droplets from the ports. These droplets may trigger the leak sensor after dripping off the pump head.

With this understanding, a Pump Waste Tubing Kit (P/N B51004740) has been developed. This kit allows for the collection and routing of liquid from seal wash outlets of the pump head to waste. This kit was added to the Inuvion ship kit P/N 22185-62000 (KIT, PACKAGING, SHIPPING, INUVION (SHIPKIT) starting on October 25, 2024.

B.    Recommendations

This pump waste tubing kit (P/N B51004740) is also available for the field to order and install on previously Inuvion units without a seal wash pump installed. We recommend installing this kit when the Inuvion pump is due for preventive maintenance or the next service visit.

Environment:

Inuvion
