Full Uninstallation of Sii/Chromeleon 7

Issue

  • Fully uninstall Chromeleon 7

  • Fully uninstall SII

Environment

  • Chromeleon 7
  • SII

Resolution

Note:  The following process will delete customer data.  It is important to save or backup all data using the proper process prior to performing the following steps:

To completely remove Chromeleon 7 / SII (executables, program residue, and registry entries), first back up all important data using the Send To feature. Create a .cmbx file of the data for Chromeleon 7. It is not necessary to create a .cmbx file for SII.

  • Backup customer data and verify they have a copy that is accessible.

  • From C:\ProgramData\Dionex\Chromeleon directory, copy the InstrumentControllerConfiguration.cmic configuration file and the Chromeleon7_XXXX.cmlic configuration file. XXXX is the serial number.

  • Uninstall Chromeleon 7 by going to Control Panel, Program and Features, then Uninstall Chromeleon 7.

  • Delete the following directories:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Thermo\Chromeleon

  • C:\ProgramData\Dionex\Chromeleon

  • This will delete all data.

  • Remove the following registry entries:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Dionex

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Wow6432Node > Dionex

  • Remove the SQL by going to Control Panel, Program and Features, Uninstall SQL Server. This is usually SQL Server 2014 (64), but older versions may be 2008R2 or 2005.

  • Reboot computer.

The computer will then be ready for a fresh installation of Chromeleon 7 / SII. Remember all datavaults and data within will be deleted, so always safeguard and backup data before the procedure.
