Product and Service Warranty - What You Need to Know

We want to make it easy to understand your warranty coverage and what to do if you experience an issue with a product or service.

How long is my warranty?

Your warranty period may vary by product, so always check the documentation provided with your product for the specific warranty term.

If no warranty period is listed:

  • New instruments: Covered for 12 months from the date of shipment.

  • Other products: Covered for 90 days from the date of shipment.

  • Services: If you believe there is an issue with a completed service, please contact us within 90 days of service completion.

What does the product warranty cover?

During the warranty period, your product is covered for defects in materials or workmanship when it is:

  • Used normally and for its intended purpose

  • Stored and handled properly

  • Operated by appropriately trained personnel

  • Used according to the product documentation and specifications

If we determine that your product has a covered defect, we may repair or replace it at no charge under the terms of the warranty.

Replacement parts may be new or refurbished.

What should I do if my product is not working correctly?

Contact Thermo Fisher Scientific Support as soon as you notice the issue.

To help us assist you quickly, please have the following information available:

  • Product model

  • Serial number, if applicable

  • A description of the issue

  • Any relevant error messages or symptoms

Our Support team will review the issue and let you know the next steps.

If the product needs to be returned, we will provide you with a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number and return instructions.

Please do not return a product before receiving an RMA and the appropriate instructions.

Some products may require specific cleaning or decontamination steps before they can be returned.

What happens if my product needs repair?

If your product qualifies for warranty service, we will determine whether the best solution is to repair or replace it.

For certain medical device instruments, a loaner instrument may be available while your instrument is being repaired. Availability is determined based on the specific situation.

Are consumable items covered?

Most consumable parts are not covered under the standard product warranty.

Examples may include:

  • Bulbs

  • Belts

  • Cartridges

  • Other items that are normally replaced during product use

Some new consumable products manufactured and sold by Thermo Fisher Scientific may have their own warranty coverage. Check the documentation provided with the product or contact Support for details.

What about products made by another manufacturer?

Some products sold by Thermo Fisher Scientific are manufactured by a third party.

These products may be covered by the original manufacturer's warranty rather than a Thermo Fisher Scientific warranty.

Where permitted, we can help provide or transfer applicable warranty rights from the original manufacturer or supplier.

What may not be covered under warranty?

Warranty coverage may not apply when an issue is caused by circumstances such as:

  • Using the product for something it was not designed to do

  • Improper storage or handling

  • Damage caused while moving the equipment

  • Shipping damage

  • Use with incompatible equipment or software not supplied or approved for use with the product

  • Other conditions outside normal, intended product use

If you're unsure whether your issue is covered, contact us. Our Support team can review your situation and help determine the appropriate next steps.
