Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR)spectroscopy is a useful solution to the analytical problems of exhaust measure-ment. While traditional on-line analyzers require exhaust to be diluted and cooled before sampling, FT-IR can measure the raw exhaust directly. Many highly reactive species in exhaust can be measured by FT-IR down to low part-per-million levels.
