Moving Oil Reference Spectra For Affirma / OMNIC Schema Operator to a New Computer
This article describes the process on how to move the Reference Oil spectra files from one computer to another so that the OMNIC Schema Operator workflows will make the References available on the new computer.
Issue
How can the reference oil spectra be moved from one computer to another for the OMNIC Schema Operator software and the Affirma oil analysis packages?
Environment
Affirma
OMNIC Schema Operator
Resolution
- On the original computer where the references were collected, open the OMNIC Schema Operator software and click the DataHub icon at the top of the program window and enter the password.
- Select "References" in the list of data and set the Start and End date to encompass the timeframe when the references were collected.
- Click the Save Data button, enter a file name and select a location to create the zipped file. This file will contain all of the original data for the reference oil spectra that were collected on the original computer.
- Transfer the zip file to the new computer and extract it.
- On the new computer, open the OMNIC Schema Operator program and collect a new oil reference. Then close the software.
- Click on the Windows Start menu and type in %ProgramData% and press the Enter key. This will open a File Explorer window to the C:\ProgramData folder.
- Navigate down to the folder C:\ProgramData\Thermo\Routine\DataHub\YYYY_MM_DD (where YYYY_MM_DD is the year date and time when the new reference oil spectrum from Step 5 was collected).
- Inside this folder should be a sub-folder that starts with the name "References" (i.e. References HTRN).
- Copy all the files from the extracted zip file References folder to the folder found in Step 8.
- Open OMNIC Schema Operator and verify references are now available in appropriate workflow.
