Changing the permissions of folders on a Windows computer varies slightly by operating system. In Windows 10, the user often has to take ownership of the folder before they will be allowed to change the permissions, even if that user is in the Administrators group. This step is not obvious and, if not taken, the user may think that they cannot change the folder permissions.
