OMNIC Picta Does Not Prompt for Spectrum Title Before Single Sample Data Collection

When collecting a single sample scan, the software does not prompt the user to enter a spectrum title before collecting the spectrum. This causes issues when the "Auto save a collected spectrum using the spectrum title" Data Security policy is enabled. The spectrum will be saved with the default title, which is the timestamp.

Completely deleting detector spectral range causes unhandled exception on active detector when trying to change the min. spectral range.

Data Security - Open experiment file allows changing directory

When the "Prevent changing directories when opening files" policy is set, the user can change directories when opening an experiment file. However, you cannot change directories when saving an experiment file.

Data Security - Choosing to use a saved background allows changing directory

When the "Prevent changing directories when opening files" policy is set, the user can change directories when choosing to use a saved background.

Particle analysis file for analyze

When the particle analysis wizard is complete, the data can be saved as a map file. A new file will also be saved the will allow the reanalysis of the particle map in OMNIC Atlµs.

Resolved Issues

Crashes after multiple uses of particle wizard

OMNIC Picta has crashed on some occasions when multiple particle wizard runs are done sequentially with a large number of particles.

Data Security - Collect spectrum does not always save

Before collecting a map, collecting a spectrum will save and prompt for a signature. After collecting a map, then collecting a spectrum, the spectrum will not automatically save and prompt for signature.

Data Security - Particle wizard crash

After using the particle wizard several times, it will crash.

Data Security - Collect engine does not start

At times the collect engine does not start when OMNIC Picta is started. The wait time for the collect engine has been increased to allow for long delays on distributed security systems.

Data Security - Particle analysis file save

When saving a file after a particle analysis, an existing file could be overwritten even though the policy defined this as not allowed.

Data Security - Particle analysis file signing

When saving a file after a particle analysis, the file is signed. When verifying the signature, the file is reported as being modified since it was signed. The file is now correctly signed.

New Features

Data Security - Particle wizard collect cancel

The particle wizard has been enhanced to not allow cancelation of the wizard during all the collection and process steps until the data has been saved. When cancel is not allowed, the process stage will force a file save to a map file of all data so that it will be properly saved and signed.

Resolved Issues

Data Security - Save map to secure folder

OMNIC Picta will now save maps only to the secure folder when security policy defines that state. This has been improved to support all security cases.

New Features

Data Security - Report printed before saving data

Reports could be printed without saving data. This has been changed to prevent printing until the data is saved and signed.

Data Security - Save map to secure folder

OMNIC Picta will now save maps only to the secure folder when security policy defines that state.

Data Security - Add audit events

Audit events have been added to several actions. These include print from particle wizard, save video image, print from the file menu, save profile as CSV and print button in analyze images option.

Resolved Issues

Imaging detector not available

When using the software in French, the imaging detector was not available.

Some issues in German

The stage movement and mosaic did not operate correctly in German.

Particle analysis only reports 100 particles

When collecting a map with many particles, only 100 are reported.

Particle analysis background button disabled

When setting up a particle analysis map collect, the background step was blocked by a disabled button.

Changing operating system region loses video calibration

When video has been calibrated and then the region information is changed in the operating system so that decimal point type is not correct, the video calibration is lost. The fix for this is to edit the OMNIC_MC.INI file. Change the decimal point in the calibration section to use either a comma or period to match the local settings then the calibration can be used.

Particle analysis image analysis needs restart

When doing an image analysis report, the software would crash when multiple items clicked in table.

Maps do not collect when using security suite

When starting a map collect with security setup, the maps would not collect.

Particle analysis bar graph

Sometimes the bar graph for size distribution would not match the actual size distribution.

New Features

Software now reports length and width of particle size

When doing the particle wizard, it now reports the particle length and width.

Resolved Issues

Spectra in particle analysis report not scaled to full size

The spectra in the particle analysis report are shown as common scaled so if one spectrum is large compared to the others, the other spectra will be just a line. The report has been changed to show all spectra at full scale.

Problem when changing between the virtual and mechanical joystick on iN10

The OMNIC Picta stage tool is not synchronized with the instrument stage when changing between the virtual and the mechanical joystick.

Software becomes unstable when collecting or processing large map or mosaics

Extensive changes to improve memory usage, user warnings and error trapping when collecting larger maps and mosaics.

Software becomes unresponsive when collecting large ATR maps

Fixed an issue that caused memory loss when collecting large ATR maps, eventually causing the collect to stop.

Fixed issue with OMNIC Picta not starting

Fixed an issue that prevented OMNIC Picta from starting intermittently.

Crash when using the Analyze Images tool

A crash was found when using the image analysis tool when selecting the second step.

Unable to save particle analysis results in a map

When attempting to save particle analysis results to a map, the file was not created.

Spectrum header shows incorrect experiment filename

When viewing a spectrum header for a spectrum collected in OMNIC Picta, it shows the incorrect experiment filename. This has been changed to show the OMNIC Picta experiment filename.

Added Data Security (DS) features

  • Add policy to prevent cancel of sample collection

  • Add policy to auto save spectra

  • Add policy to control use of Cancel button on signing dialog

  • At the start of the application, the status of the security suite will be checked and report any issues

  • Instrument information is now available for reports

Login fail will open application in DS mode

The application will not start after failed logins. It will record an event in the event log

Particle Wizard reports 0% area

Under certain conditions, a particle was reported as 0%.

Cannot save experiment files in non-English languages

Certain parameters were not persisted when saved in languages other than English.

Advanced diagnostic reports wrong instrument name

When doing a report in the advanced diagnostic test, the wrong instrument name was reported.

Save map not saving all data

It was found that when processing a map of discrete map points, the changed data could not be saved. This will now function correctly and save the new data and the information about the spectral history.

ATR release distance problem

When set to languages other than English, the ATR release distance was not always the selected value.

ATR use of background reference

When loading an experiment file saved with the ATR collect mode, the background reference button was not disabled for selection. All background buttons are not in the correct state when the experiment file is loaded.

Aperture settings not saved

The aperture settings were not saved in the map file. Therefore, the map information did not report the settings at collection. This has been changed to save the aperture settings.

Mosaic for line maps not always correct

When collecting a line map, drawing the line from left to right or right to left will affect how the mosaic is collected.

Multiple Save Map commands shown

After collecting a map, there can be multiple Save Map commands shown.

Export map after normalizing scale

When exporting a map after a normalize scale operation, the file will not always be saved.

OMNIC Picta stops after spectrum copy

After selecting a point on a point map and copying the spectrum, OMNIC Picta would hang up.

OMNIC Picta particle wizard hangs up

When using an OMNIC Picta particle wizard, the software would sometimes hang up.

DS mode allows use of software when defined as disabled

When Thermo Security is set up to not allow certain users to open OMNIC Picta, OMNIC Picta would put a message that stated it would not open but then went and opened anyway.

Increased distance stage moves down when releasing ATR.

Translations

Polish translation is complete, improved Japanese and German translations.

Resolved Issues

Discrete map "Go to point" issue

Fixed issue when setting up discrete point maps and attempting to use the "Go to point" on the first point.

Background collect after time issue

Fixed to collect background after time so that new background is collected at the specified time.

Use saved background issue

Saved backgrounds were not being used, instead used in memory background.

Saving profiles in map issue

New profiles were not saved to some maps. The profile will now be saved to the map file.

OMNIC Picta did not use OMNIC DS settings issue

OMNIC Picta will now use the settings from OMNIC DS that are appropriate.

OMNIC Picta logging failed logins

OMNIC Picta will now log failed logins so that they can be monitored.

OMNIC Picta auto focus

OMNIC Picta auto focus has been improved.

Too short a time between sample and background collects

The time between sample and background collects has been increased. It is also adjustable using a setting at the bottom of the experiment setup page.

Could not apply changes to maps

Operations to change format, apply Kramer’s Kronig or other operations on a map have been fixed to work with all maps.

You can now specify an additional release distance with the ATR pressure profile.

Background handling

Collected backgrounds are not invalidated by changing collection parameters and reverting to previous values.

OMNIC Picta has been updated to support features of OMNIC 9.

OMNIC Picta Dialogs

Changes have been made in OMNIC Picta so that dialog boxes will not drop behind the application or become forced topmost windows.

Collect Background after sample does not work for maps and this feature will be disabled. This feature will be re-enabled when fixed.

Live Video image shrinks during use

If you have a manual XY stage, the live video image may shrink during use. The only way to resize the live video image was to restart OMNIC Picta. If you have a motorized XY stage, you are not affected by this issue and no additional fixes are included.

Analyze Images produces exception Error

When using the Image Analysis tool in OMNIC Picta an exception error will be displayed and the feature will work.

Point map displays Single Beams instead of ratioed spectra

When collecting a Point map with multiple aperture sizes, a single beam may be displayed instead of ratioed spectra.

DDiag indicates unable to communicate

When using DDiag to communicate with the iN10, it may indicate a failure to communicate and not allow the requested operation.

Incorrect Z axis location used with saved Point Maps

When a Point map experiment is saved and reloaded at a later time, the original Z axis values of each sample point is not correctly restored.

  To update an existing experiment file with Z axis information, load the experiment file, "touch" each sample point to update its X, Y and Z coordinate and then save the experiment.

Digital Security

OMNIC Picta now supports digital security and the Thermo Security Administration application.

Default Experiment

A user may choose to select a specific default OMNIC Picta experiment file to be loaded at startup. To select a default experiment file, navigate to the Advanced section of Experiment Setup in the View and Collect section.

Instrument Firmware version

The instrument firmware version can be found by opening the About OMNIC Picta dialog in the Help section.

Map Math

When two like maps are opened in OMNIC Atlµs the Map Math function is available. The Map Math function provides the following map math functionality

    (A-kB) / (A+kB)

Send to OMNIC Specta

A right-click option has been added to send map spectra to the OMNIC Specta application as temporary files.

Mosaic has not changed

If the mosaic has not changed since the last time collected prior to map collection, it will not be recollected. Instead the current mosaic collection will be used for the map collection.

DDiag now has live video image display

DDiag now has a live video image display.

Progress indicator now available during optimize condenser

A progress window is now available during the optimize condenser operation.

Stop button for optimize signal process

A stop button is now available during the optimize signal operation.

Resolved Issues

Overlay of chemical image and video image in transmission is working correctly

The Map Blend option did not work correctly when in transmission.

Cross section and Random Mixture wizard color selection is not correct

When selecting color options in the Cross section and Random Mixture wizards did not work correctly in version 1.0.

Data collection with a manual stage

Data collection now works properly and waits correctly between the background and sample collection.

Condenser position is retained

When setting a new background, the condenser position is now remembered.

Changing the aperture size invalidates the background

Changing the aperture size now invalidates the background.

Additional experiment settings are retained

When reopening the OMNIC Picta application, additional experiment settings are now retained such as background collection settings, number of scans, resolution, number of background scans, aperture size, final format, step size, apodization and scan speed.

ATR mode switching

Only the data format is changed when changing the data format in ATR mode, the ATR pressure is no longer released and reapplied.

System Status for Electronics spawns multiple windows

Multiple windows are no longer spawned when viewing the Electronics system status.

Ultra-fast mapping is now available after using Array Zoom

Ultra-fast mapping option is now available after using the array zoom feature.

Drawing area maps at the viewing limits is now acceptable

Drawing area maps at the viewing limits was not allowed in version 1.0 of OMNIC Picta.

Array zoom now requires a new background

Array zoom now requires a new background collection.

DDiag window issues have been addressed

DDiag window issues have been addressed such as windows appearing behind other windows.

ATR release distance has been increased

The ATR release distance has been increased from the previous version.

Rotating the aperture by entering a number into the dialog now works

In the previous version of the software rotating the aperture by modifying the values in the dialog boxes now work correctly along with rotating the rectangle in the window.

Macro library setup option is now working

The macro library setup option is now available in OMNIC Picta.

Backup parameters can now be saved in DDiag

DDiag now supports and option to save the backup parameters.

Translation Updates

The translation files have been updated.

Known Issues

QC Libraries

QC libraries are not available in OMNIC Picta. However, QC library options do appear in Library Manager and Library Setup

Close or Minimize

Close or minimize all applications when running OMNIC Picta. At times if other applications are running behind OMNIC Picta, they can show through the application, and spectral or map data windows may not appear correctly in Analyze Maps and Data.

Area Drawing

When drawing an area map with the array mode selected, use the Mosaic pane to specify the area rectangle instead of the live video pane, because the live video pane may cause the display to jump

TQ Analyst

TQ Analyst must be reinstalled after OMNIC Picta if it existed on the system before OMNIC Picta installation. The OMNIC Picta installer will install TQ EZ instead.

Line Segments

Line segments larger than half the current step size must be specified for the line segment to be drawn on the display.

Photoacoustic

Photoacoustic processed data does not work well with the wizards.

Thermo IQ

When you are running the Thermo Software IQ program, a warning will appear indicating that the omnic_wc.dll installed with OMNIC Picta is a newer version than expected for OMNIC. This is expected with the OMNIC Picta version 1.0 release. There will also be a warning message because the OMNICAdministrator.exp file size is different when installed with the iN10 driver. This is an obsolete file that is no longer used, and the change in file size will not affect the software functionality.
