Loading Sample List Into Qtegra

Issue

Want to load sample list into Qtegra from CSV file

Environment

  • Qtegra
  • iCAP 7000 Series
  • iCAP 6000 Series
  • iCAP Q
  • iCAP RQ
  • iCAP TQ

Resolution

Change Excel File to CSV
  1. Open sample list file in excel
  2. Note the headers for the mapping file, see example headers in Figure 1

  3. Click "Save As" and choose CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited)(*.csv), name and choose a location you can easily locate to save the file in, see Figure 2

Editing the default mapping file
  1. Find the default map database by following this pathway: C:\ProgramData\Thermo\Qtegra\_Application Data\SampleLists\TranslationTable
  2. Edit the mapping file by opening with notepad see Figure 3

  3. Once open in Notepad you can edit the mapping file for your specific sample list
  4. In the "Default" mapping file you have many lines that can be edited see Figure 4 for the default mapping file shown in Notepad

  5. Now you can edit the mapping file in accordance with your sample list headers noted in the above section
  6. Each line should be adjust as so: <Name>Name</Name> from the LIMS is translated to
    <Translation>Label</Translation> for Qtegra.

    - In REDGreen, and Purple, are the headers from the excel sample list. They go in the <Name> x </Name> section in place of x
    - The Blue color shows what those headers need to translate to in Qtegra. These should be columns that are already in Qtegra. Headings in Qtegra sample list.PNG
     
  8. If there are any extra lines, you can leave them. If you need more lines than are given, you can add them in sections above </TranslationTable> 
    - A whole section is <Item>    <Name> x </Name>  <Translation> x </Translation>  </Item>
  9. Save the mapping file using "Save As" and save as a .xml file Save as XML.PNG  in the Translation Table folder that you opened it from
Loading the Sample List and Mapping File into Qtegra
  1. Open Qtegra and go to the Labbooks Section, Labbooks section.PNG
  2. Choose "Create a new Labbook from an existing Template" Create a labbook from an existing template.PNG
  3. Name the labbook, Name the lab book.PNG
  4. Select the template you want to use Template choice.PNG
  5. Check the box "import from CSV" import from CSV.PNG
  6. Choose the CSV file that saved in the first section, and the mapping file that was created in the second section.
  7. Click "Create LabBook" Create labbook.PNG

    Once you click Create LabBook, the sample list will reflect the sample list file from the LIMS or excel file created earlier.
