Tune Set activation failure on iCAP PRO occurs when system readback values do not match configured set values after plasma ignition. This article provides step-by-step guidance to identify mismatched parameters and resolve the issue.

Tune Set fails to activate after plasma ignition on the iCAP PRO

Environment

  • iCAP PRO

Resolution

  1. After plasma ignition, go to the Dashboard in Qtegra and locate the Source Settings panel. Compare each Readback value with its corresponding Set Value. The Tune Set fails to activate when one or more readbacks do not match the configured set values.
  2. Identify the parameter that does not match. Check values such as RF Power, Nebulizer Gas Flow, Nebulizer Gas Pressure, Auxiliary Gas Flow, Cool Gas Flow, Additional Gas Flow, Pump Speed, and Radial Viewing Height.
  3. Investigate the mismatched parameter using the guidance below:
    • If Nebulizer Gas Flow or Pressure does not match:
      • Inspect the nebulizer for blockage, damage, or wear
      • Check gas supply and connections for leaks or restrictions
      • Replace the nebulizer if necessary
    • If RF Power does not match:
      • Verify plasma stability
      • Check RF generator status and system readiness
      • Restart the plasma and observe for fluctuations
    • If Auxiliary, Cool, or Additional Gas Flow does not match:
      • Confirm gas supply pressure is within specification
      • Inspect gas lines and connections
      • Verify mass flow controllers are functioning correctly
    • If Pump Speed does not match:
      • Check peristaltic pump tubing for wear or improper installation
      • Confirm pump is operating and correctly set
    • If Radial Viewing Height does not match:
      • Verify method settings
      • Check for mechanical or configuration issues affecting positioning
  4. Correct the issue causing the mismatch. Replace, adjust, or repair the affected component as needed, then confirm the Readback value matches the Set Value.
  5. Restart the startup sequence and verify that the Tune Set activates successfully after plasma ignition. If the mismatch remains, repeat the comparison for the remaining parameters until the source of the mismatch is found.
