Chiller Noise

Issue

A noise issue was reported in the Thermoflex chiller for the iCAP 7400 Duo. The noise was identified as coming from the front of the chiller, specifically from the fan. Prior to reporting the issue, the filters were cleaned, and the pressure on the chiller was adjusted using the back screw, but the noise persisted.

Environment

  • TF900

Resolution

The application of WD-40 to the front fan of the chiller was suggested and implemented. This action successfully resolved the noise issue. It is recommended to monitor the chiller for a couple of days to confirm there are no repeat issues. If noise reoccurs, further investigation may be required.

Analysis

The successful resolution of the noise issue with the application of WD-40 suggests that the noise was likely due to a mechanical issue, possibly rust, in the front fan of the chiller.

Cause

The root cause of the noise issue was identified as a mechanical issue in the front fan of the chiller, possibly due to rust. The application of WD-40 resolved the issue, suggesting that replacement of the fan may not be necessary.
