633nm HeNe laser front aperture check

Issue

When installing the 633 nm HeNe laser, the output laser power after alignment and calibration should be 8.0 mW. An aperture at the front of the laser output should be checked if the output power can not reach 8.0 mW during installation.

Resolution

Check and fully open the laser front aperture.

1. Turn off the instrument. Unplug the power cable of the 633 nm laser from the instrument.

2. Remove the long laser tube cover.

3. At the front of the laser output, there is a tab labeled "BEAM (Open, Closed)". Move the tab to fully OPEN to open the aperture in front of the laser.

4. When attaching the laser tube cover back, make sure that the foam under the laser tube cover does not rub on the aperture tab to accidently move it to Close or partially close.

5. Plug in the power cable. Turn on the instrument and realign/re-calibrate.
