What does the Database Maintenance item in Security Administration Control for Insight Pro Software

Issue

There is a Database Maintenance application added to the Security Administration program for Insight Pro software.  This application has only one Access Control item listed as "Ability to record audit log", but it is unclear as to what this item controls.

Resolution

The access control item for the Database Maintenance application dictates whether or not audit events get recorded during the database backup or restore process in Insight Pro.  If a user has been denied this access control item, when they perform a database backup or restore, a single audit event will be recorded indicating that they have not been granted the ability to run the application (see item outlined in blue).

If the user has been allowed access to the item, then a number of events will be recorded in the audit trail when a backup or restore is completed (see items outlined in red).

It should be noted that regardless of the setting for this access control item, the database backup or restore process should still complete as expected.  This control item only affects if audit events are recorded and not the actual backup and restore processes.
