Error 8 - Calibration needs to be saved as a factory reset

Issue

Brand new chiller out-of-the-box displaying "Er 8" which indicates that Calibration needs to be saved as a factory reset

Environment

ThermoFlex 900
ThermoFlex 2500

Resolution

Enter the Service Function:

1. Press and hold <enter> and then press <mode> three times in a row

2. The controller will beep. If not, redo holding <Enter> and then press <mode> 3 times in a row

Enter the calibration loop:

1. Press <mode> to display SP

2. Press <mode> again to display Setup

Note: You have 60 seconds to press <mode> or the Service Function will time out

3. Press <mode> until you see diA9 displayed

4. Press and hold the <Up arrow> followed by pressing <mode> again to enter the Calibration Loop

Reset sensor to factory value:

With rtd1 displayed, press and hold the <Up arrow> key and then press the <Down arrow> key until the display flashes between gEt and rESEt and then press the <Enter> key

The unit will beep and the display will go blank to indicate the calibration data was retrieved from the RESET location in memory

Note: Error 8 means there is an issue with the main board or an issue with the saved data that has caused the unit to lose its calibration. Retrieving the calibration data from the Reset location may temporarily allow the unit to run but most likely the unit will ultimately need to be replaced due to the temperature needing to be recalibrated or the main board replaced.

Analysis

Original error code was "Er 6" - Calibration, maintenance counters and setup variables were reset. Once this error was cleared, Er 8 appeared.
