Instrument driver not loading in Windows 11

Issue

After installing software, and plugging in the instrument USB cable, the device manager doesn't show the device loaded properly.

An attempt to manually update the driver results in a message "A driver cannot load on this device.  A security setting may be preventing the driver from loading"

Resolution

Turn off the Memory Integrity setting and reboot the computer.

  1. Click on the Windows Start menu and type in Memory Integrity.
  2. Click on the best match "Core Isolation" to open Windows Security.
  3. Toggle off the Memory Integrity option.
  4. Reboot the PC.
  5. Device driver may load automatically, otherwise unplug the USB and reconnect it or try updating the driver again.

Analysis

To nagivate to this setting manually, select Start  > Settings  > Update & Security  > Windows Security  > Device Security and then under Core isolation, selecting Core isolation details.

Cause

In Windows 11, there is a Memory Integrity setting that is turned on will prevent the drivers from loading.
