Files with PAR extension

What is the source of the .PAR files in the C:|My Documents\Omnic\Param directory?

Resolution

OMNIC software will create a file with a .PAR extension in the C:\my documents\omnic\param\ directory every time the program is opened and is able to successfully read the bench configuration information (i.e. detectors, beamsplitters, sources, etc) from the FTIR instrument. This file is then used by OMNIC in the event that the software cannot communicate with the instrument to provide a reasonable approximation of the bench configuration. The file is also used when OMNIC is in simulator mode to approximate the instrument that is described by the .PAR file.
