DC Lights Flickering

Issue

All the DC lights in the front panel are flickering during the installation or detector installation.  

Environment

• Ion Chromatography
• ICS-3000 DC
• ICS-5000 DC
• ICS-6000 DC

Resolution

Step 1:  Turn off the DC module power briefly by pressing the POWER button on the front of each module. Then press the power button again to restart DC module. 

Step 2:  If the lights are still flickering, turn the DC module power off by pressing the main power switch on the rear panel of DC module. Disconnect he power cord for 5 minutes then reconnect the cord, press the power button again to restart DC module.  

Step 3:  If problem remains, check the power supply voltage and the grounding voltage. Make sure the power is correct and the grounding is well. 

Step 4:  Measure the power supply PCB output voltage, the DC output should be +24VDC. If not, replacing the power supply PCB. 

Step 5:  Power off the DC module, remove the power cord, remove the CD and ED detectors completely from the upper compartment, then reconnect the power cord, power on DC module to check whether the lights will be flickering or not without detectors connected. If no flickering lights any more, then go to Step 6 to install the detectors back one by one to check. If there is still flicking lights, then go to step 7 to replace the backplane board and the CPU panel. 

Step 6:  Install back the CD detector and ED detector one by one: Insert the detector into the compartment and push firmly to plug the electrical plug on the back of the detector into the receptacle on the rear wall of the DC compartment. A click should be heard when the detector is fully seated. Then repeat the powering on to check the lights. If flickering lights appear again after installing back one detector, replace this detector.  

Step 7:  Replace the DC backplane board, the DC CPU board and the Front Plate PCB.
