Leaking Tubing to Flow Cell in Diode Array Detector FG (VF-D11-A-01)

This article addresses the issue of leaking tubing in the Diode Array Detector FG (VF-D11-A-01). The leak was caused by damage during the installation of the flow cell cover. The resolution involves identifying the leak source, inspecting and replacing the damaged flow cell, and ensuring proper cleanup.

Issue

Leak detected in the tubing connecting the inlet block of the flow cell to the flow cell. The tubing was damaged during the installation of the flow cell cover, resulting in leakage.

Environment

  • Product: Diode Array Detector FG
  • Model: VF-D11-A-01
  • Component: Flow Cell Tubing

Resolution

  1. Locate the Source of the Leak: Check the connection at the inlet block of the flow cell for visible liquid.
  2. Inspect Tubing and Connections: If the connection appears tight but still leaking, remove the tubing and inspect for damage. If tubing is damaged, it cannot be replaced individually; the entire flow cell must be replaced.
  3. Replace Flow Cell: Order and install a new flow cell to resolve the leak.
  4. Clean Up: Use a cloth or tissue to absorb any liquid collected in the leak tray. Ensure the leak sensor is dry and recalibrated if necessary.
