Thermo Fisher Scientific

Could not connect to Secuity Service - The service is installed but is not running

Issue

Omnic not opening - Unable to communicate with Thermo Security service

Environment

  • Omnic Security Suite
  • Results Security Suite

Resolution

 1. The most common is that Windows updates have stopped the services. You should try restarting your computer at least twice to make sure all updates have finished.

 2. Check to make sure the service account as not been disabled, or it’s  password changed or expired.

  • To do this open Window services and find the 5 Thermo Scientific services and make sure they are running if not try and start them ( see below). Please note you must always start with the Thermo Scientific Audit log service first then the other services can be started after it is running.
  • If you receive a Log on error the service account’s password is expired or may have been disable, to reenter the password double click the service and then click on the Log on tab and reenter the password for service account and click apply in each of the services.
  • Below are some helpful screenshots.
  • Do not change the service account doing so will require resetting folder/file permissions.

3. If issues continue it is recommended to check each of the 4 Thermo Scientific services and make sure that the recovery options are set to "restart the service" .
