Chiller not cooling

Issue

Chiller temperature is increasing steadily to the point while under load until it triggered an error and shuts down

Environment

  • ThermoFlex 900
  • ThermoFlex 1400
  • ThermoFlex 2500

Resolution

1.  Set the temperature to 35C

2. Turn the unit off on the front display first and then toggle off the rocker switch on the back of the unit.

3. Turn the unit on at the back by toggling On the rocker switch on the back of the unit and wait for the unit to go through the procedure of resetting the stepper valve.  Horizontal lines should be running down the front display.  You may also here a clicking sound.

4. When it is finished,  start the unit by pressing the power button on the front display and let it run for just a couple of seconds.  Then turn it off at the front display.  Then off at the back rocker switch..  Wait at least 5 seconds.

5. Then repeat steps 3 and 4 three more times.

6. Turn the unit back on by first toggling the rocker switch on the back of the unit, waiting for the unit to go through its initialization routine (see step 3) and then pressing the power button on the front display.

7. Set the temperature to the normal operating temperature, i.e. 20C and see if it holds temperature now.

Analysis

This may reset the stepper and solve runaway cooling issue.
